To Carb or not to Carb is the question?

Thinking about cutting out Carbohydrates to loose weight? Well don't!!

Cutting out Carbs isn't the answer to loosing weight; it will mean that you will have to really solely on proteins, fruit and veg to fill you up and trust me that isn't as easy as it seems. This is also know as the Atkins diet!

Eating only proteins, will not only make your cranky, but also very gassy and will give you wind! Not a very nice feeling.

The best thing to do is cut down the amount of Carbs you eat, also time when you eat them.

Try to consume the most amount of Carbs in the morning, then decrease the amount as the day goes by.

Like the saying goes:

"Have Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dinner like a Pauper"
It is also about eating the right Carbs:
- Brown Rice
- Brown Pasta
- Whole meal bread
- Whole meal chapatis (You can use a mixture of wheat flour/Soya flour/Corn flour when you make chapattis)
- Porridge oats
- Potatoes (Starch Veg)

These have Complex carbohydrates, which keep you fuller for longer.

Remember Carbs are not your enemies, it is just about understanding and befriending them, plus eating them in the right quantities.

Wk 4/5/6 - I like to have my Cake and eat it!

During the party season, trying to stay motivated was the most difficult; every one is eating and I am having to say ‘No, I don’t like that, or I’m pretty full’.
But then I thought, this is not about denying my self and proving that I have self control, but it is about being sensible, learning to understand how to portion control and ‘Having my cake and eating it.’ So guess what…. I did.

I took control of what I should eat and how much I should eat.

So far so good; I have survived the party season, not done too much damage to my waist line and stayed on track to my weight loss…. Even though I didn’t manage to do it is 6 Weeks. But SO WHAT! It’s not the end of the world, as I am still motivated and even more determined to continue.

The New Year is here and I have to up my game and make up for those extra Choccy biccys I ate.

So I came up with a plan; weight loss doesn’t only occur at the gym, you can burn calories anywhere.

- at home
- at work
- whilst shopping
- and even whilst cleaning

It’s all about moving around and increasing your heart rate and raising your core body temperature. Also fuelling the body with the right nutrients and not depriving it.

So to burn the extra calories I will add
- a 30 minute walk during lunch 3 times a week
- include a 30 minute dancing session whilst cleaning

Change my diet:
- increase water intake through out the day
- Eat different fruit and vegetables each day

Lets see how this effects my weight loss… if any.
