New Year, New You!

The Party season is well and truly behind us and yes like every year I have piled on a few pounds.

But not to fret!

No point feeling guilty; just need to get back to my normal routine and will soon loose those extra pounds gained without much effort. To speed up the loss, I need to reduce food intake for a short period of time and increase activity. Easier said then done, as winter is all about comfort food, but one must try!

The latest craze in work out is Bikram's Yoga. Performing 20 Yoga postures in a 40degree heated room for 90mins. Sounds like fun to me, as I love Yoga; so over the next coming months I will be sweating it out, whilst toning, shedding and enhancing.

Why not join up at your local Bikram's yoga class and join in on the fun; let's see how we measure against the heat.

P.S During winter it is easy to forget to continue drinking water, so make a conscious effort, schedule it into your day to ensure you stay hydrated. It will help prevent skin drying up and flaking, and maintain the soft supple look all over as it will help flush out toxins.

To Carb or not to Carb is the question?

Thinking about cutting out Carbohydrates to loose weight? Well don't!!

Cutting out Carbs isn't the answer to loosing weight; it will mean that you will have to really solely on proteins, fruit and veg to fill you up and trust me that isn't as easy as it seems. This is also know as the Atkins diet!

Eating only proteins, will not only make your cranky, but also very gassy and will give you wind! Not a very nice feeling.

The best thing to do is cut down the amount of Carbs you eat, also time when you eat them.

Try to consume the most amount of Carbs in the morning, then decrease the amount as the day goes by.

Like the saying goes:

"Have Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dinner like a Pauper"
It is also about eating the right Carbs:
- Brown Rice
- Brown Pasta
- Whole meal bread
- Whole meal chapatis (You can use a mixture of wheat flour/Soya flour/Corn flour when you make chapattis)
- Porridge oats
- Potatoes (Starch Veg)

These have Complex carbohydrates, which keep you fuller for longer.

Remember Carbs are not your enemies, it is just about understanding and befriending them, plus eating them in the right quantities.
