Having done week1, got my work out regime, had a personal training session and tried a few classes. Having completed week2/3 and in to full swing of things; so what is it really about?
Well what I have discovered that working out alone and burning a few calories is not enough to help me loose weight; a balanced diet is also required. This does not mean I starve myself, cut out carbohydrates and remove all fats from my diet. It simples means to reduce the total intake of calories from the food eaten and increase the amount of calories I burn.
I have realised what works for someone else, does not necessarily work for me.
It’s about finding out what works well for me, understanding my body and what it requires.

Importace of Breakfast
One thing I have learnt over the years of trying to fight the flab, is that when they say ‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day’ they weren’t lying.
Growing up with low sugar levels, low blood pressure and not knowing the breakfast rule, I use to suffer from having a head rush if I would stand up too quickly, would occasionally have dizzy spells and have fainted a fair few times.
But having incorporated Breakfast into my daily life, the head rushes have become a thing of the past; but recently I have also learnt, whilst trying to loose weight, it is very important to maintain blood sugar levels through out the day! Apparently more calories are burnt this way.

I try and include all 5 food groups during breakfast, this way it kick starts the system and keeps me from getting hungry and agitated till my next meal/snack.
So a tip for that would be to have smaller frequent meals through out the day, rather then 3 large meals. This way it stops the hungers pangs whilst maintaining the sugar level.
But this doesn’t mean 5/6 large meals, it means smaller portions of everything; the aim is to distribute the calorie intake through out the day, rather then increase it.
I have found snacking on the following items in between meals have contributed to my weight loss and stop me from craving carbs:
-Rice Cracker + Hummus
-Oat crackers + Cottage cheese
-Fruit Yogurt with bio culture
-Crisp flat bread
-Ryvita + Cream cheese
-Salad + low fat dressing
-Muesli + Soya milk
-Porridge + Skimmed milk
-Herbal Tea
-Hot chocolate made from 100% cocoa and skimmed milk
