Wk1 - Ready to Rock & Roll

Signed up and ready to Rock&Roll - Tuesday 11th November.

First up was getting measured and the dreaded weighing scale!

‘Wow... am I in for a surprise....I have more work to do then I anticipated.’

I measured up as follows: (R=Right, L = Left)

Height: 166.5m
Weight: 75kg
Flexibility: 26
Hips: 43cm
Waist: 33.7
R Arm: 11.2
L Arm: 11.5
R Thigh: 19.3
L Thigh: 19.4
Heart rate: 62

Once done with the 'oghhh my god, is that how much I weigh phase', I filled in exactly what I was hoping to achieve over the 6 weeks and the type of life style I lead; this would help my instructor Deepak to devise a fitness programme to suit my needs and requirements.

I did 15 minutes on the Treadmill, Rower and the Cross trainer…nothing to challenging, just enough to warm up the muscles and prepare them for what was coming.

Will Power!

I spent half the day in the new Westfield shopping centre; a work out in its self if you ask me. This is actually a good way for an alternative work out; walking from shop to shop, trying on clothes and even carrying the shopping; it all adds up to a great cardio and weights session.

But watch out for the temptation to fall off your wagon!

'Minutes on the lips, years on the hips!'

Whilst there, I really had to restrain my self from getting a lovely Starbucks coffee, or a M&S sandwich; I knew it deep down, that it wasn’t going to get me any closer to achieving my goal, so I walked away feeling very proud, after having had the will power to not caving in.

I feel like a celebrity!

Got in to the gym and was greeted by Kash my Personal instructor; didn’t know I was going to have him helping me shed the pounds too.

I feel like a celebrity, having two people working to help me achieve my goal; or was it that I needed two people’s help to actually get somewhere? Hmmmm.

Either way, 30minutes of circuit training and I was shattered; Kash had incorporated boxing in there too, I felt like Rocky, well a female version; but a few upper cuts and jabs latter, I didn’t even have the energy to lift my arms!

But as the saying goes ‘no pain, no gain’; I was just worried about how I was going to drive home and what state I was going to be in the next day?’

Luckily for me, after nearly a decade of tried and tested methods of various gyms through out London, I discovered a little secret in avoiding agonising aches and pains the next day:

‘The best thing to do is keep moving; nothing strenuous, but gentle movements to help further loosen up the tense muscles.
I did some yoga and kept moving around during the evening; dancing is also one of my favourites. The next day, there was still a little soreness in the shoulders and chest, but I was ready to go another round!

‘Come on MR T bring it on!’ Ok may be not just yet!

However, somehow I found the energy go in over the next few days and do some cardio, followed by another day of Yoga and Cardio….impressive huhh!
